UPDATE -- THURSDAY, MAY 17 (I THINK)

My trip plans went awry at about the furthest point away from home that I planned to be. I got to Lagunas in great shape but two days behind schedule for reasons I can´t begin to describe in a short update. I´m backtracking now and am back in Tarapoto. I had planned to be in the Lima airport checking in for an overnight flight tonight, but it aín´t gonna happen.

DRINKING BUDDIESIN PONGO, PERU

I actually could have made it but for a 9-hour delay enroute from Yurimaguas to Tarapoto due to road construction. Nine hours! If you want some fun, look up the town of Pongo, Peru, on Google. That´s where we were stuck. Pongo´s not exactly a jerkwater town; they have an internet cafe, but just don´t have any lines that work. No post office, either. They have a number of bars and restaurants, so the day wasn´t a total loss.

Well, I´m way behind on my narrative. It´s written, just not entered yet.
