I made it home mid-day Saturday (yesterday) with a few unexpected twists and turns. Right now I'm enjoying a cup of Tarapoto coffee brewed in my own pot.
I never made it to Iquitos or to the Amazon River proper, but each difficulty and change afforded different opportunities and challenges. I'll never know what would have been had I made it to Iquitos, but there are many people--other travelers; other Peruvians--I would not have met and that would have been my loss.
If there is one reader remaining, be assured that I'll get the final five days or so posted soon.
